In my case, he will always move North. 02) You can change the direction slightly though to avoid early combo loss (like deep water). As you can see, I slightly strafe to the left to keep Su Fei from reaching the deep water on the left side on the shallow water path. If you take too long to reset the combo, you may cause a knockdown, so becareful.
