7 Chechens Gunned Down In Cold Blood

Five unarmed Chechens, including three young women, were shot dead at an FC check post in Quetta on Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 . They were shot at point blank range, by a group of Rangers standing a few feet from them. While one of the women on the ground, laying in a foetal position, held up her hand and pleaded with the Rangers to stop shooting, the Rangers opted to empty several magazines into her body, in a hail of indiscriminate fire. The security agencies claimed that these foreigners were wearing suicide vests and armed with grenades, explosives, detonators, they opened fire on the FC check post and were killed in a 'shoot out'. Later, they all turned out to be lies. According to witnesses, journalists on the scene and Bolan Hospital sources where the bodies were received, these foreigners were unarmed. There were no suicide vests on their bodies. They carried no firearms or ammunitions. Not even a knife. The only thing that was on their person, was their passports. After video footage taken of the event by professional and amateurs, began making the rounds, the security apparatus is embarrassed and has changed it's stories several times over. The Rangers, FC and police personnel who were being lauded as heroes, are now under scrutiny by political parties (JUI-F, JI, PAMP, etc), human rights org and the media at large. As of today, Thursday, May 19th, 2011 the Chief Minister of Balochistan Sardar Akbar Raisani has ordered an investigation into the matter.

Karachi, Pakistan - In a shocking incident that came to light late on Wednesday night, Rangers personnel were found involved in the killing of a young man in cold blood in public. The authorities in their earlier version had claimed that the man was killed in an encounter in Clifton. The incident was captured by several people on their cell phone cameras. The gruesome footage later found its way to television channels. The incident occurred at the Benazir Bhutto Park in the early evening. Afsar Khan of Shireen Jinnah Colony had registered an FIR accusing the young man Sarfraz Shah of trying to rob him at gunpoint. However, the footage on television channels later revealed that the young man was captured unarmed by the Rangers and shot in cold blood point blank in public. He was seen pleading for his life while surrounded by a group of Rangers personnel who fired shots at him in full public view. Last month, security forces shot and killed a family of five Chechens - a husband, his pregnant wife and their three children at a checkpoint near the southwestern city of Quetta. Officials initially claimed the five were suicide bombers, but they turned out to be unarmed and video of the shooting further undercut the government's claim. The government has since launched an inquiry into the shootings.
