Chicago wins Game 5, 95-83 THE FACTS: Josh Smith got back to playing the game the way Hawks coach Larry Drew wants, Atlanta made life much more difficult on Bulls guard Derrick Rose, and Atlanta outscored the Bulls 16-4 over the game's final 4:04 Sunday night to even its conference semifinal 2-2 in Philips Arena with a 100-88 win. Rose followed up his 44-point effort from Game 3 with 34 more points, but was just 12-for-32 and committed all three of his turnovers in the fateful fourth quarter as Atlanta outscored Chicago 33-19 in the period. Smith scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in the fourth quarter and finished with 23 points, 16 rebounds and two blocked shots while putting himself in the middle of Atlanta's new up-tempo offense with a team-high eight assists. The Hawks doubled the Bulls in fast-break points 16-8. Smith took a few of the long jump shots that drive Drew crazy (and made his first shot from beyond nine feet in the series), but did most of his damage in the paint -- where Atlanta outscored Chicago 56-40. Smith led multiple fast breaks as the Hawks hardly resembled the team that sleep-walked through a 99-82 loss at home Friday in Game 2. Atlanta, which was outrebounded 105-73 while losing Games 2 and 3, was barely edged on the boards Sunday, 37-36, and won the war on the glass in the fourth quarter, 10-5.
